Lisa Lewis, LCSW, SEP

Somatic Experiencing Practitioner

SE™ Assistant

My model for therapy comes from over 20 years of clinical experience and life experience. I believe that when you come to therapy you do not want to just talk about your day, but rather you want a therapist that has the skills to help you make lasting changes. In order to be a skilled therapist it is important for me to continue my education and expertise, therefore I am constantly reading, attending trainings, and seeking consultations. I aim to assist my clients with working through their struggles by helping them gain understanding of their body/mind connection. My training has taught me that our “body keeps the score”. In other words, to work through past difficulties we must not only gain cognitive understanding but we must also listen to what our bodies tell us and allow the combination of this information to guide our transformation. I would never ask my clients to do anything I have not tried and I have found somatic therapy to be life changing.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in working with children and teens with behavioral problems, trauma and attachment issues, learning disabilities, abuse histories, and mood disorders. I also work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma, and relationship issues. My continuing education trainings include: Theraplay, EMDR, Post Induction Training with Pia Mellody, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (a treatment program for depression) and will complete my Somatic Experiencing training in June 2021.

“History, despite it wrenching pain cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again” -Mayo Angelou. Therapy takes courage and hard work. I would love to be part of your journey.
